How to size the 5.10 Aleons?

I am very interested in the new 5.10 Aleon and wanted to wait a bit before asking for sizing advice.

For reference, I am a size 10.5 street and wear size 10 Hiangles for a snug, peformance fit.
I assume size 10 in Aleons should be a similar fit but the stretchiness of the upper makes me wonder if I should downsize half another half size to get the same snug, performance fit as the Hiangles? Any thoughts/experiences about how the fit (midfoot snugness, heel tension) is effected after the break in period? Thank you in advance for the help!

They’ve been out for less than a week and there is a thread about them on here as well. I went with same size as my Hiangles, or .5 down from street and they fit different, but I don’t think going another half size down would matter.

I purchased the same size as my Quantum VCS, 1 full size down from street and they were way tighter, returned them for 1/2 size down.

My street size is 9.5 and I wear 8 in the hiangle and aleon.

  • Length/heel tension feels similar though it's even easier to get them on because of the primeknit cuff.
  • Toe box feels lower volume (can't knuckle up my toes as easily) and the toes are nestled above a convex shape like the LS solution or evolv shaman.
  • Overall width is wide and tapers to a slim and low rising heel sort of like the instinct vs.
  • The pseudo split sole makes for a tighter fit around the arch.

It doesn't feel like there's much stretch since breaking them in over a couple sessions. If anything, the midsole has gotten a bit softer but the toe box feels just as snug.

The toe box is weird. I'm not super sold on it yet. I'd rather knuckle my toe for precision and power rather than hope that the forefoot shape holds up over time with a flatter toe. Otherwise the shoe is great and gives me high hopes for the new Dragon, which I think will be much better.

I order a half size down from my quantum laces, (which are comfy enough for long multipitch), and I’d say the Aleons are sized just right enough for bouldering. Haven’t used the Aleons in rock yet, but they are waaaayy wide in the fore foot—widest shoe I’ve ever worn in that regards. Super comfy and well made in all other ways. If you have narrow feet though, I’d stay away.

Just got my 9.5s which is half down from street, snug fit, I personally wouldn't go any larger for single pitch or bouldering. A lot of people could deal with a full size down but with with the zero stretch thing, not me.

They are amazing shoes though. Should I try 10s or go to 11s like The evolv Agros?

I think they're extremely comfortable, and I got 10.5 which is the small side of my usual street shoe size (sometimes I wear 11 in Altra). I've climbed about 20 pitches in them and love them. They went from slightly uncomfortable to tolerable in one session, and now I find them very comfortable. I guess they don't really stretch, but for some reason my toe knuckles are much happier now than when I first tried them on.

Everyone I know is using their Hiangle size or usually .5 down from street. They might just not fit you.

Do you know about SizeSquirrel ? Unfortunately not many people have added them to the site...
