April Fools Climbing Jokes
|

last year Black diamond had an April fools joke about a heated chalk bag that turned out to actually be real. I wonder what people are scheming up this year. |

Did a route on the Flatirons where, out of sight of my partner, I pulled up slack and clipped it to my harness. |

One that always comes to mind was an MP thread from years ago. The OP said he had just made the first dry tool ascent of the Naked Edge. Naturally, people got their pitchfork and torches out before anyone realized what the date was. It was absolutely hilarious. |

Was recently climbing in Moab and came across a particular shiny fixed .75, probably only been stuck for a month or so. Being over a little bulge in the wall, I had the privacy to place the racking biner from my .75 as well as an extended quickdraw onto this piece (placed my personal .75 in my summit pack to futher create confusion). Climbed to the top of the pitch and then put my follower (a sport climber by nature) on belay. He climbs up to the fixed cam, and after a few minutes trying to get the piece out, I just tell him "just keep climbing, you can buy me another later." he begrudginly hauled himself up the wall until he met me at the belay, where I was smiling holding my own shiny piece. |

I used to live in NZ and the editor of the local climbing magazine published a photo of him climbing one of NZ’s few “splitter” cracks (rambandit, at castle hill) with a bunch of photoshopped bolts. People were VERY upset for quite a while... |

I'm still waiting for BD to release the ATC-3, a tri-slotted tube-style rap device for those extra-long triple rope rappels. |
