Lori can now climb 5.11 at the gym. I've seen it.

Whoa! Way to go Lori.

I assume this means you two got to climb together, which is also cool.

Nice, Lori! I'm still projecting my first 10s, (not that we are focusing on numbers)

Did she know that's what she was on? That bumps your grade up, IME, not knowing it's "too hard", lol!

Congrats, Lori! Now, you just have to remind yourself you are more capable than you might think. That, just guessing, is part of the head game for many, if not most climbers.

Dallas, duck tape her down, if ya hafta, but yeah, don't mess around with toughing out pnuemonia. It's really easy to have it repeat.

All, thanks for everything. I'm muddling along good enough.

My apologies to the crap for weather folks. It's in the fifties, even past sixty the other day....but snow flurries yesterday. Still, it's desert here. So, our season is on! I'll be back on my project Friday, and I'm really looking forward to it! Ironically, I'm guessing my guy tells me to meet him early, so we don't have temps that are too high for optimal bouldering!

More news: the process for my retirement is in the works, and, I have flexibility in my schedule the next few months, also, because of the changed circumstances. Not just personally, my coworker is retiring the end of 2020, and we need to make a smooth transition of our tiny little department. We both met with the boss yesterday, so, it is started.

Watch out people, OLH may be coming to a crag near you!

Best, Helen

Our guest room is ready for you Helen! Although we are supposed to be having a blizzard today, so you might want to wait awhile... :) 60 degrees yesterday - Colorado weather.

Congrats on the retirement Helen, my what a whirlwind your life is these days.

Barbara is in timeout.  We are in Las Vegas at an RV rally sitting around with a bunch of other old people, soaking up the sun and not doing much but chat. I am taking the time to catch up on much needed repairs to the RV, we have a big summer planned. Well mostly planned. I still don't have April tied down.

Helen, congratulations. It’s all unfolding, isn’t it? It doesn’t stop the pain or loss, but you know when it’s right.
Dallas, I’m so glad you’re reporting in on the two of you. Sounds like Barb is mending.

So, hmmmm. It’s been a whirlwind 48 hours of driving and climbing...very little sleep. I had a wonderful time climbing at Senor’s gym, meeting him at last and trying out one of the cracks there.  I felt like I finally actually could feel that hand jam stick...so maybe there’s hope.

Fair’s fair... I’m posting one of Medusa. Not climbing or belaying but just hanging in his special place. He put up 3 topropes for me...the last route just got away from me...so much to learn, I think I could do it next time a little fresher. Thanks Jeff. I had a lot of fun. This is how I’ll remember this day.

And now...to TRY to be ready for 9 days of climbing...omg what the hell was I thinking? Josh is cold and windy tonight...

It’s an astonishingly beautiful morning here. I can hear the coyotes yipping in the distance, North Star shining bright.

But in two hours we meet to start this Anchors class and I don’t remember a single thing. (Ok... the triple Fisherman’s knot I remember). I have a 30 pound bag of ropes, carabiners and cordallettes to lug along...for what?  I hope he’s patient and I don’t have to claim Alzheimer’s for an excuse.

No matter how far I get in this climbing thing...it seems I am daily shown what a beginner I am. Humility! It’s all I got...

My attempt at a Munter Hitch with a Mule Knot and overhand loop backup. Somethings wrong here...figuring it out.

Lori? That humility might save your life. It isn't just the "knowing", it's remembering you can never know all of it, and even then, there are total surprises you've never seen before that can pop up.

So stoked for you!!! It's great you are meeting such great people. I am very much looking forward to my turn!

Carl? And squeak (???) I found the wombat!

The toy stuffed one from my hubby's travels twenty years ago. Our "little" boy asked for it, if it showed up. I think I'm keeping the boomerang though. He'll have to wait for that!

:-) H.

If it makes you feel any better, if someone asked me to tie a muenter with a mule knot and overhand loop backup I'd just stare at them like a mule.

Oh cool. You know, I've never seen a wombat in the wild. Or a platypus. Seen an echidna though.
