Even the top TRAD climbers use the grigri death machine. Scary! Add them to the list!

I feel like I should be jumping hard and the timing of that jump has to be perfect. I know all I can do is practice but any tips for giving a soft catch with this weight diffrence?
Thanks

climbing friend,

you do not have to jump like you are michael jordan "slamming" a basketball. simply remain alert , preferably with your knee slight bend, and give in a bit or "hop" slightly at the right time. the timing it is more important than the basketball "slamming" large vertical gain jumping. dont leap with all your might at the wrong time then spike her like a football.

do not go limp or be afriad for performance
in no time you will please your partner
with catches soft, gentle, yet firm and strong
light as feather

postscript: under no circumstances shall you utilize deadly ATC. it goes without speaking you utilize the holy grigri

highly recommend a rock warriors way clinic if you can get to one

the hand paying out slack (not your brake hand), your hop should be timed to that. the exact moment the rope starts to pull that hand up is when you hop. if you are timing that correctly your partner and you will know immediately the difference between a good catch and a shite one
