Nearest Portland Ice?

Hey all, I just moved to the Portland area and was wondering where one goes for the closest decent ice around here?  I am aware that this probably means heading up into Washington but was hoping that there is some good options within the 2 hour range.  I'd appreciate any suggestions

Short of glacial ice on mt. Hood, you’re waiting for a cold snap in the Columbia River gorge. Folks post a lot about it on cascade climbers.

I’ve climbed ice down by salt creek falls, near oak ridge, but it took a 40 year low for it to form up.

There are also some possible drips near Tom Dick and Harry mountain but those are a long approach and hit or miss. I’ve personally only been there in the summer, but recently was told they might be in...

Just hike in to the Eliot Glacier on Hood.  There’s some great drips that are in. WI3ish ice mostly.  Bring at least a 60M rope for the lines.

As someone else said, there is decent ice high up on the north face of hood on the elliot glacier. Just went up there yesterday.  You have to work for it.  Almost 5k in elevation gain from the parking lot for a couple routes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
