Red Rock during the federal shut down

Per the article that John posted, it sounded like Red Rocks Campground isnt closed, but just that the bathrooms would not be maintained. Does this mean people could just go out to the campground and use the space free of charge? |

Campground definitely closed. Checked it out. Also, 10 vans tried camping at the trailhead parking just down from the Fire Dept. They'd gotten away with it last night. Tonight the cops kicked them out. |

Thanks for the info Dave! Maybe we will try our luck with the dispersed campsites up Lovell Canyon rd. Hope we can find a place there as I'm sure that where many others are going as well. |

Lovell Canyon is mobbed. Still plenty of space though. Cop threatened citation last night so I wouldn't push it with trying to camp anywhere but Lovell. He was pretty salty. |

Is the ring-road open? It was the 23rd, but heard from some folks lined up early today (24th) it was gated up? |

Yes, the loop was open and free today, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. |

Does anyone have an update on the gates for today (12.25)? |

To add to the radar image, the link is hourly up dates for RR, measurable rain every hour for the past 3 hours. |

It’s good to go for onsight climbing though, right? |

Ted Hering wrote: Was planning on driving to RR tonight. Can someone local give me an idea of how much rain the park might have gotten today and if it will likely be dry enough to climb tomorrow? I don’t want to be that guy out there breaking off holds tomorrow if the rock is too wet. Thank you! I haven't gone to the park today but based on how much rain there was in Summerlin this morning I wouldn't climb tomorrow. Someone more local can correct me if I'm wrong. |

John Wilder wrote: It’ll be too wet to climb tomorrow- almost a tenth of an inch and consistent cloud cover = highly unlikely that the rock will be dry tomorrow. Don’t drum up business too hard, wet rock police! It’s lame enough you’re literally the only gym I’ve heard being open on Christmas Day. Talk about a non-essential business. I’m sure you’re manning the desk though, not just Scrooge McDucking it from home, lol! |
