After about three years of use, my Grigri 2 has worn down significantly on the back part of the faceplate, forming a sharp edge. I've searched through different forums for discussion on this type of wear but everything I've been able to find focuses on either (1) the front part of the faceplate where the rope rubs when feeding out slack, or (2) the cam itself. Has anyone else experienced this type of wear, and is it normal after only three years of use? If not, any ideas what could have caused it? Thanks.
A lot of use in places with small particles (like sand) get on your rope and will cause this. The sandier your environment, the quicker you will run through hard goods. The black marks from your hands after cragging all day is aluminum oxide from all your carabiners being abraided by your rope. Washing your rope won’t help much.

Mine have worn similarly. I would call it normal wear and tear. Price of trying to save weight, I guess.
Just abrasion from a rope. Mine wore down pretty fast. I just used my dremel and sanded it smooth again. Washing the rope does take a ton of dirt/sand off of it; which extends the life of your gear.
That’s pretty normal. They are coming out with a new Grigri which does NOT have the anti panic feature the grigri+ has, however, it has the steel plate which increases durability.
