Pennsylvania Ice Partners Wanted

Hi Everyone!

New to the PA ice community. How's the ice?  I have been reading about the Narrows and some other areas.  Would like to get to know some other PA Ice climbers and start to network......  Let me know!  In the Philly Area.

Narrows are great when they are in and not closed for birds. The Venn diagram for that looks like the Venn diagram of vegans and bullfighters unfortunately... I’m around with more weekday availability than weekends. Got a while to wait before I’ll sharpen anything for around here.

There's a decent amount of ice in PA, but surprisingly few ice climbers as far as I can tell. I'm located in State College and climb in the Lock Haven and Pine Creek Gorge areas, and I'm always looking for people to get out with as well!

Jake, I'm not too far from you in Blairsville and I'm waiting on the ice too. I'd be happy to climb with you.

Just moved down to DC from Boston. Definitely interested in any ice I can get on. Available most weekends this winter.

While driving along HW 611 near Kintnersville in Bucks County I observed some cliffs that are huge and soaking wet.  Any ice info on this spot?  Looked like epic potential!

Probably the narrows. Access has been limited in the past few years due to raptor closures.

Anyone feeling lucky about this week???

Definitely add my name to the list.  I'm down to get out most weekends this season. I missed most of last with a torn labrum, so I'm chomping at the bit.  I'm down form something this weekend and was considering a trip up to the Dacks if anyone is interested.  Work may throw a wrench into things, so I'll know for sure later in the week.  If I stick around, I'm always up to explore new spots in PA and have the PA ice climbing guide.

Plenty of ice along 76 driving into Philly!  Ice must be getting thick somewhere right!?  Thanks for the update Mike.  Anyone been up to the narrows yet?  I should be forming up?

There was very mediocre ice in the narrows this week, it’s probably all gone now, and will be by end of rainstorm...

Thanks Ryan!  Any raptor closure that you know of?

They normally wait until the ice is good to climb before closing for the birds...
In all seriousness I think it closes end of January. Normally is updated on the narrows section here.

If anyone is up for ice climbing or knows of ice climbing by the Ohio border I would be down to getting out. it would be nice to not always drive to the Dacks or the UP to get on ice.

Would also love to get out when conditions permit! New guy here :)

Trying to head up to the narrows late Monday morning if anyone is interested. I have no info about conditions right now, but I think given the cold it will be worth a shot by then.
