Description
The Narrows, located in Kintnersville, PA is home to maybe the best ice climbing in Pennsylvania. This area is filled with 400 foot high Brunswick Shale and has reliable routes. There is convenient parking which offers practically no approach. If it happens to snow a lot make sure to bring a shovel to get into the parking lot. Over the winter, this summer choss pile turns into a pretty great place considering it's in PA, but still be careful, theirs still plenty of loose rock.
The three most popular and most reliable routes are, Main Flow, Main Gully and Dead Deer Gully.
Getting There
From Knitnersville at the intersection of State Highway 611 and State Highway 32, turn onto State Highway 32 and drive 1 mile. You'll start to see some ice along side the road. You'll see a dirt parking lot on the right and an abandoned factory on the left across the river.
From there it is a matter of walking along the road to get to the climbs. At the parking area you'll be in between Main Gully and Dead Dear Gully. Facing the cliff Main Gully will be to the Left and Dead Dear Gully will be to the right.
