Do you have any retired ropes lying around that you’d like to see go to a good cause? I’m a 6th grade teacher at a very high needs school where I am trying to get an outdoor recreation program off the ground (ha!). I would love to have some rope remnants for each of the kids to practice some knot tying in class while I work to convince admin that mountains will improve test scores and life outcomes for these youth. Being 12 years old is brutal, let’s try and make it better for them.
I currently live in Bellingham, but am more than willing to travel to pick up donations. More than happy to buy donors a beer too! Any help in creating the next generation of mountain-loving adventure-seekers would be next level appreciated!
I live in Bend, I have some shorter, cut chunks of rope that would be perfect for practicing knots. If you're down this way I'd hand them off, or maybe after the holidays I could ship them up. You might also reach out to the American Alpine Institute in Fairhaven. They tend to burn through ropes every year.
