if anyone wants to "save red rock" find a way to magically transport it 200 miles from vegas into the middle of no where.

Clearly there are an exactly equal number of burros to people. That's why red rock has its famous burro to people to ratio

Vegas is terrible... dont come

I stayed in the Lowe's parking lot on the other side of 215 on 159 for a couple of weeks when I was there last November. Super chill and still very close to the canyon. Never cooked out in the parking lot there though.

Van dwellers are just like the rest of the community. Some of us are considerate, responsible, and genuinely make an effort to contribute back to the local community, and some lack regard for other people or a picture bigger than themselves. Don't blame the van, blame the two legged virus in the driver seat.

I was expecting a bunch of extra space around here due to the deportation/internment of half of the population when the current president rounds up the undesirables like the newspapers had warned. Drumpf has been a yuge disappointment. Build the wall and deport van people!

Just as a point of reference, I stopped counting at 40 the number of vehicles lined up parked head to tail along Skid Row early Sunday night (11/11/18). This is becoming a problem and I'm not sure what the solution is but clearly the campground is not nearly big enough any more.

John Wilder wrote: No. The BLM has made it very clear that the campground is bound by the current borders and will never expand. This is a really important thing to consider. The legal camping is almost always approaching capacity. (at or beyond in the peak season) If the BLM refuses to offer more legitimate alternatives, what do they really expect? When I first saw it this Spring, it just felt like driving into the Valley from El Portal. While it's important as climbers to obey laws and regulations when on a climbing trip, it's also important for public land managers to manage the resources they're responsible for in a way that allows end users to access them. It strikes me as bizarre that the BLM can't or won't expand the available camping if it's always slammed. (I'm sure it's not really that slammed in the middle of winter and the summer) It seems like an obvious point for climbers to unite behind and advocate for.

Van life is juvenile. Van lifers are trust fund gapers. Make sure to angrily HONK when you pass a douchey vanlife vehicle.

Now, Now gang. Hatin' on each other and generalizing about lifestyles is not going to make our Red Rock experience any better. It would be GREAT if the vans would disperse so we don't get more restrictions. It would be GREAT if we could get that (shabby ass, noisy, windy) camp expanded. I don't know what John Wilder knows, but maybe someone could think of something to persuade the BLM to make room for us (all). Steve

Ocalslay Onlyyay wrote: Doubt any of them read/post here, braj. Post here? Highly unlikely, unless they're climbers (and even climbers might not like vanlife scum overnighting on their street). But not reading? How marvelously naive. Think automated readers that scan the net and fire off an email to someone, like perhaps an HOA, when they encounter mention of a keyword or phrase or, gee, maybe a street name.
