I was in Hidden valley on Tuesday doing some stretches and reading a book amongst the boulders, about 10 minutes (slow) walk from the parking lot . A couple were lounging around on some rock near the trail that’s not far from me, probably a hundred feet away, when suddenly the guy starts taking all his clothes off and opened his arm to the sun and uttering something like “oh” and “ah” while running around and laughing . The girlfriend freaked out and starts yelling “ no no no no no” “ come back!” , to no avail.  I was the only person nearby so the girlfriend stated screaming at me to please come help.  I didn’t really want to deal with any of this but she kept screaming at me hysterically to come help , so I finally walked over and ask if the guy was on mushroom or something . She told me her boyfriend just took some acid and she needs me to take them back to their car in the parking lot . They’re really not far from the parking lot at all but somehow she seems genuinely doesn’t know how to get back . So I led them back to their car in the parking lot while she dragged her not cooperative ( and still naked) boyfriend the whole way back .  After that I went back to the trail , found and picked up the guy’s clothing ( coats , pants, underwear, lighter .. everything) and brought them back to their car . By then they made so much commotion at the parking lot, 2 ranger cars showed up and an ambulance was on the way 5 minutes later.  I left after that and don’t know what happened to the guy after . I really don’t know how Jim Bridwell kept on climbing after dropping acid . I don’t think I wanna try acid ever if given the chance , after seeing all this now . I  thought that was pretty crazy day in Josh.   End of the story.

LSD in the late '60's/early '70's, and LSD today are undoubtedly entirely different animals. I can only wonder what a person would be getting nowadays. In any case, I can confidently say that neither nudity nor rock climbing would be compelling to a brain on acid. Which should tell you something as to what the value of it is.

I've never seen anyone react to LSD like that. You hear in news stories about people even jumping out of windows to their deaths from smoking Denver pot. Seriously, some stupid kid did that right after legalization. I think it's wired into the human's faulty brain and not the fault of the drug. I do wonder what the current LSD compares with that available in the 70s and 80s. It's not like any of that stuff is strictly quality controlled. Ha ha.

Hahaha. This is great! They should be grateful you were there- otherwise the psychedelic nude dude might have gotten him and his girl lost in the desert.

I read "LSD" as "LDS" and was really struggling to imagine most of the Mormons I know acting like this. At least in public.

Gotta stop speed reading these forums.

As an ER nurse I can tell you he got taken to the hospital, strapped to the gurney, given sedation, woke up 6 hours later, ate a sweet turkey sandwich and walked out probably cursing all the staff for ruining his high.  The police may or may have not given him a ticket depending on their mood.

LSD is LSD regardless of what year it is. Same with Aspirin. It too is the same as always, simply because Aspirin is Aspirin and everything else, is not.

Just saying...

Your faith in the black market pharmaceutical industry is high. Literally and figuratively.

How about a mix of lsd and x with some meth?

I think what he meant was that the additives and purity might be different. I’d imagine he knew if it was actually lysergic acid diethylamide, it’s the same chemical as always. Sounds more like PCP than LSD to me...

You gotta be careful with the Meth laced acid! That’s a real epidemic these days. That’s why I stick to good old fashioned bath salts!

I saw nearly the exact same situation unfold the first time I was in Yosemite. Dude was buck naked jumping on cars and setting alarms off, got detained by the rangers pretty fast. Good thing there is no jail in Josh.

When they take way too much... this is exactly how they respond.

The only thing surprising about this story is that it happened in the park instead of down in one of the towns nearby. Lot of mentally unstable people out there. I blame that more than whatever they ingested.

I wonder if they are still a couple. Was the girlfriend dosing as well? If she got lost that easily near Hidden Valley that's a possible symptom.

On a side note, this type of incident happens every once in a while in the flatirons above Boulder. Same story, different people.

the guy just did too much he didn't know how to handle it must've been his first time. it gives you tunnel vision makes you feel like you're in a dream. he probably had a spiritual connection with nature and thought that he should be naked cuz that's how humans are naturally supposed to be. it ain't the drug it's the person state of mind he's in that makes them act the way they act.but the stuff nowadays seems cleaner and potent than the stuff back in the day cuz you get a cleaner come down instead of a stuttery stream of thought that makes you feel like a dummy zombie need to be in the right State of Mind and the environment to have that stuff work the way it's supposed to

Why did you capitalize the “s” and “m” in “state of mind” and nothing else? Are you one of those guys asking for retired ropes for non climbing uses? Are you putting out coded messages on here for potential partners?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
