Thanks for the heads up.  We normally do not have any problems in remote areas.  But we will be sure to lock up when we visit next month.

Yes, thanks for the heads up. I don't know what anyone can do, if it's just a random person coming through, doing a grab and run, and hitting the road. If there's a pattern, or it's pervasive, that's another matter. I dunno, leave your belayer tied up at the camp to growl and bark at them? Bring a battery and put up electric fencing? Get a pet skunk? Claymores would be overkill, I'm guessing...

I haven't decided yet if I am tenting or in my Honda, but I'll come prepared to do both. I'm guessing more tents have simply blown away, than "walked off" while the owner was climbing!

Yeah, but then ya hafta figure out which county your crap came down in....heck, from City? Might be in Nevada.

Boise foothills got used for gunnery practice, many decades ago. When we first moved here, people were still finding ordnance out there. And, several of our climbs have numbers in a circle with painted quadrants! I've always wondered about some of the holds on those routes....hmm.

By the way, when I went to the Idaho mountain festival last year, around September 23ish?  We woke up to snow.

Wouldn't be the first time we have been run off by snow.  We had planned on stopping in El Rito last year but got snowed out. So "the plan" is City of Rocks, Flatirons, Clear Creek, Red Rock (CO springs), El Rito, Big Bend NP, TX.

Have you been to Connor columns? It's supposed to be warmer, if City is nasty. If I don't have partners for some reason, or the weather turns, I though that would be a plan B. Also, if both weather and partners crap out, SLC area is a possibility, although it's a lot of driving. For just a day, or bad afternoon? There's a newish gym in Twin. And pizza/hot springs!

Looking forward to this trip, quite a lot!

I hadn't hear about Connors Corner, I found some pictures, looks like the Feathers and the Sunshine wall at Frenchmans Coulee near Vantage, WA.  We still have to work weekends until the 23 of Sep.  Let me know if you can make it down to City of Rocks the weekend of Sep 28.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
