Time to grow up Peter Pan.  Aren't you like 40 or something?

I would like it. All in all, this forum is the rudest and has some of the most idiotic posts to date. What ever happened to “no question is a stupid question”? Those rock jocks who sit behind the keyboard and spout off that they know it all are irritating. Rude comments abound in this forum.

Begin the bashing.......

I agree and Benjamin Chapman's posts oggling young women need to be censored as well.

Thank you.

Gone is the age where, when you don’t like something that you should ignore it. Now we have the pleasure of being protected from such injustices. To think, the difficulty one could face having to avert ones eyes away from an off putting comment on a for-pleasure forum.

No. Gone are the days when people would refrain from actively trying to be as obnoxious as they possibly could be and call it 'fun.'

You sound like you'd be fun to hang out with

Here's a vote for less moderation. I don't like the idea of someone deciding what's allowed and what's not allowed. I suppose since our corporate overlords at REI own the site they can censor whatever they want, but it doesn't make it right.

Yeah I've never moderated a forum.

I have fixed a bunch of shitty area/route entries though.

I can also still tell when people are being complete dicks.

And as far as I can tell, REI has absolutely no influence over what I do on this site.

I don't think you have any clue what *most* admins do on this site. I can't speak for everyone, but what I do is make sure that information here is accurate and concise.

Or maybe I've been secretly chipped by REI/Big Brother?

yes, but the thing is, its very easy for a site to get past the point where its just easier to avoid it entirely than to selectively not read obnoxious and or intentionally offensive posts, then as the not troll posters slowly leave the site slowly dies. Happened to ol' rockclimbing.com, and it could happen here.

In B4 some other old guy brings up the climbing boulder dot com days. Bob D, KC, Samet, and so on. Flame sessions for dozens of pages.
No one died. And it was a lot more entertaining than this

I am the evil REI overlord you speak of.  As I've noted many times, I'm the only one that moderates the forum.  Turns out to be just a fellow climber trying to keep the place civil - for well over a decade now.

All the other Admins are volunteers who do a LOT of work to keep our route database clean and useful so the rest of us can find and enjoy the climbs we want.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
