I have bought all my shoes from the buy/sell for $60 or less.

Maybe you should work more and post less?

I wear dragos in the gym. They’ve been resoled twice, so I don’t feel as silly as I might otherwise. Regardless, I try to train as I fight, and I avoid wearing shitty shoes in the gym

If you can only get outside like 2x per month, but you climb inside like 4x per week, half of your "projects" are going to be indoor climbs, because you need to spend your precious outdoor time getting miles in. In that case, it would make sense to do the opposite. Wear your expensive shoes and work hard projects on the indoor walls, then try to get as many pitches as possible at your flash grade or below outside (and you might as well wear some old beat-up shoes on the easy stuff). Not everything is cut and dry.

This is far, far worse than someone wearing expensive shoes at the gym.

Climbing shoes in the bathroom are gross. Especially at urinals.

In response to the OP.

Following a resole shoes often don't feel quite the same so often they get demoted to gym shoes for me. If the resole goes really well I will keep using them outside. (It helps that all of shoes I've bought in years were at least 50% off) I find that its much easier to get "worn three times" high performance shoes cheap since A: The fit should be more precise and B: Many people aren't accustomed to the discomfort so they offload them.

1. Better shoes always make a difference
2. Paying MSRP is for suckers
3. Resoles
4. Some of us have jobs, shoes are honestly not that expensive

You could pay $100 for a pair of Finales or whatever and then wear them until the toe is blown out and they're ruined. Or you could pay $135 for a new pair of Testarossas (25% off), two Grip2 resoles for $45 each, that works out to $75 per sole, and you get to climb in great shoes.

I feel like this is all common sense yet we keep having this discussion over and over...

I bought Geniuses because I heard they are good for victory whips.

Absolutely.  You want to climb in expensive shoes?  Knock yourself out.  I'd rather skip the part where I touch the urine of every person that climbs in a 30 mile radius though.

I’d like to see someone swab bacteria cultures of climbing holds vs a urinal. Unless your urinal has been shat in, I’d bet most used holds are more likely to make you sick than most urinals. Most urine just isn’t that dirty

Ya that urine is sterile thing, that’s not real. Small amounts of bacteria are found in urine.
