Heads up!

Climbed the Castle on Sunday and was warmly greeted at a new, second, booth where we were told that is now $6 a car to park.
For alternate access the Sunnyside lift will be spinning on weekends and holidays and it is $10 adults/$5 kids.

No free shuttle into the basin.

You only have to pay to ride up Sunnyside. Downloading is free. But they are running it slow, so its probably just as fast to walk.

The 6 dollars is just to drive up into Albion Basin, and does not guarantee a parking spot.  On a busy day you may pay the money only to drive up to the end of the road and find no parking.  As bognish pointed out, they are spinning the lift very slow, so it is not a quick ride up like it would be in ski season.

Well I've got to say it. I assume the road is open 24/7? So what time does the booth "open"?

From what I heard, there will be a gate so if you try to go early, you'll just run into that. I also heard there will only be 65 spots, so every time someone comes out, they'll let another in. So Im assuming paying guarantees a spot

Time to buy E-Bikes and ride them up from the Albion lot!

7am to 8pm.

I've not seen a closed gate when the booth isn't manned.  Need to go see if that's the case again, though.  Not sure they could close the gate.  Campers at the Albion campground won't have a key to get out if they need to leave after hours.

Between the campground and private property up there I don't see how they could close a gate. There was not a gate on the upper parking lot that I noticed when I walked through on Sunday.

According to the facility info page for the Albion Basin CG at recreation.gov:  "Gates are locked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m"

There is a gate to get into the campground, but it is after the trailhead parking lot.

Yeah, that's a gate at the campground when the fee station/host isn't available to take campers.  They close the gate, but, you can still drive out of the campground (they have one of those one way spikey road things like the Red Rocks Loop Road outside Vegas).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
