Plastic Double Boots

Hey everyone, first time poster here so be brutal to me. Just bought my first pair of plastic double boots new at a ridiculous discount so had to take a leap and get them. I've noticed with just a regular lightweight wool sock that there is very minimal heel lift but from what I've heard this is normal? My question is what "sock system" is everyone using with plastic doubles (Will be used for a 6 day class early season on Mt. Baker and winter in the NH Whites) and is there anything I should be doing special to break them in outside of just breaking them in like a normal pair of hiking boots?

Are these boots "old" school plastic boots with an outer plastic shell and liner boot? If so toss the insole and put something like a SuperFeet Red in its place. Over time the liner will pack down. There is no real breaking in other them breaking you if trying to hike any real distance (i.e for your course on Baker do the hike in trail shoes). As for socks, your choice, just dry them and the liners out.

Yes they are the Asolo AFS Evolutionize with the inner boot that separates. Thanks for the help

Use antiperspirant on your feet, and try using them laced up one notch below the top--it'll give you much better ankle flexibility and less shin-bang.  For socks, use whatever fits best--synthetic liners can be useful, but aren't necessary.  Try to dry your liners (and your feet) out every day--fresh socks when you get to camp, etc.

Tie the liner like a normal boot (tightish) and the shell ultra loose for hiking. Really super loose.

You don’t break the boots in, you break your feet in.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
