Good first .13a in the Southeast

Hello, I've set a goal of .13a for this year, and was just looking for some recommendations. I was wondering what a good first would be in the Southeast. Currently feel good on most 12s, still have a lot of work to do, but some recommendations would be awesome.

Thanks

Honestly, it's probably whatever climb is nearby enough and psychs you up enough that you spend your weeks training and your weekends putting burns on it. Where are you located?

Yeah there is only so many 13a in the southeast, your best bet is probably the red.

Im moving to Atlanta in a couple of weeks so I'll be much closer to rock than I currently am. I understand that psyche plays a major role, was just curious

There's a handful of super classic looking high 12s and low 13s at the Paradise Falls area of T-Wall.

Whatever looks fun and inspires you to climb.

For the Red, I bet Convicted and Skin Boat have served many as their first 13a.  Table of Colors, Appalachian Spring, and The Force would also be a great choices (and probably less crowded).  Quinsana Plus at the New is one of the best.  The T Wall 5.13s like Abortion Contortion are pretty burly.  Foster Falls and Obed/Clear Creek probably have some good choices.  Zeus at Moore's Wall is also classic.

If you'll be in Atlanta I am sure deep creek has at least one 13a pump fest.

I would pick based on proximity and awesomeness, so going from Atlanta to the rrg every weekend when chatty is right there seems unwise.

If you are moving to ATL then try silverback at little river canyon

Lots of hard 12s and easy 13s a T-wall and also a few at Sunset.

Whatsherface at The Obed has always been a favorite of mine.   Not a hard one for the grade either.   Otherwise, there are some fun routes at Little River Canyon too, and plenty of stuff at the newer sport areas around Chattanooga that would be closer drive from Atlanta and would be good for breaking into that grade.

When the man speaks, you listen.

But seriously, if you're in Atl you'll be two hours from the canyon which has a ton of good 13's. Stealth, Silverback, Double Doug, etc, are all good options. Grab the guide book and get psyched!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
