Great movie or no?

Definitely Whitney Portal. I identified some of the climbs: Boulder problem at the beginning is Hero Roof (V0) at the Buttermilks cdn-files.apstatic.com/clim…; At 0:41 he's climbing Gangway 5.12a (slightly lower than the climber in this photo mountainproject.com/photo/1…) At 0:43 they're on No Country for Old Men 5.10c (3rd pitch "enduro corner" mountainproject.com/photo/1…) Nice view of Mt. Whitney at 1:39 (well, technically the various needles to the left/south of the the actual summit destination360.com/north-am…) |

So this is not a spoof? It seems like a comedy. Is the viewer supposed to feel compelled by the story, and the sequences about things happening are important to the overall goal of the movie? My mind is totally blown that this is a real production, full length movie. |

Russ Keane wrote: Why are you surprised? Compare to Cliffhanger and Vertical Limit. Remember, it's only a comedy to climbers. |

Obviously, we see the glaring issues, but young kids just starting climbing will probably really enjoy it. I think what makes it seem worse is that the production is professionally done but the acting, dialogue, and plot are not. It's hard making movies. Good for them for getting one done. |

I thought this was a fake trailer put up by some weekend side project ... this is going to be unwatchable |
|
Looks like a fun movie... better then some of the others that have been put out. I enjoy movies and would make the worlds worst critic, so it will be entertaining... |

Think about this. Just as we laugh at this movie, mobsters laugh at mob movies, bank robbers laugh at bank robbing movies and I would imagine Special Forces laugh at some war movies. It’s Hollywood everyone, take a breath. Remember that photo of you at the top of that 5.3 you showed your friends at the office? Remember how amazed they were? That’s the audience for this film. |

Bill Kirby wrote: Agreed. My wife is a forensic scientist; any movie or show that has any crime scene or crime lab content generally makes her roll her eyes, but if it's a well-written show with interesting plots and characters, she can generally bear it. (We used to watch NCIS, and she liked the characters enough that she just ignored the laughable forensics). I have an engineering and physics background, so pretty much every action movie has something that I cringe at, but I still manage to enjoy watching movies. |

I hope that Natalie Duran has a speaking role in this film when it finally comes out and that she's not just a stunt double. |
|
I hope the LPBs do not have a speaking role, as that would totally blow the whole "low key" thing they've got perfected. |

here for the thumbs up |
|
This movie looks to be about as good as sport climbing along the Seward highway |
|
Good one. |
|
I'm stoked to watch this in the van after a long day out climbing. Will be a good distraction from the typical totem rants and raves around the campfire... |

I followed the money trail on the financing of the film and it turns out to be funded by the Helmet manufacturers. I wonder what message they could be telling us? There is another thread on potential Memes for this new gem. Thank you for all the laughs. : - ) |
