Just want to add that you can climb on Phi Phi. I just returned from Phi Phi and did not notice anything about a ban (no signs ect.) People climb there all the time and the local climbing shop is running tours. I've visited Tonsai Tower, Drinking Wall and Oyster Blade and climbing was fine everywhere.

On a positive note regarding Thailand : Tonsai is really picking up steam - we had basejumpers coming down overhead, landing on the beach, we had some huge high lines (like 70 meters long or something crazy like that), and of course the classic routes that we all know about. Nice to see it coming to life after low season !
