For our honeymoon we are headed to Argentina and looking to split time between Patagonia (El Chalten) and Mendoza. We will be in country for a little over two weeks. A few questions:
We would likely be doing some of the hiking/trekking in the area, but wouldn't be doing any alpine climbing. Is it worth bringing a rack? Most of my experience and comfort is with sport climbing, and I am a little hesitant to drag a rack out there, but could be persuaded.
We were looking at doing some climbing in Patagonia and understand there is some climbing in El Chalten, and are interested in also climbing in Mendoza if feasible.
How is the climbing? How accessible is it? What's the best way to get there?
We pretty early in or planning. Any suggestions (climbing, hiking, lodging, ect) would be appreciated.
