I'm building my dream rack right now. For cams I'm looking at the black, blue, and yellow totem as well as DMM Dragons purple up to BD #3 equivalent. For doubles I have trango flex cams from low mid size up to their #1 equivalent. I want a #2 BD camalot equivalent that's light weight and I do not like the reviews on Trangos larger flexcam sizes. I already have a ultralight mastercam BD camalot #2 equivalent but I do not like it and will be selling it. The trigger takes to much force to engage the cam. The Dragon's I will already have a BD #2 equivalent of and just need something light weight to pair with it. Thanks in advance for the helpful replies.

What about a DMM Demon or 4CU? They're not as light as the UL MC but are lighter than the Dragons.

That's perfect, this is exactly why I posted. I hadn't thought of those, I will look into them.

I'm going to offer a differing opinion. I'm not going to ask what you're doing or why you want a super light rack. I will say that BD makes solid cams. I do think that WC's new cams are indeed better. However, I just sold 5 super old beat BD cams for 150 bucks. I turned around and bought 3 (.75,1,2) C4's. for 160$ + 15 bucks back active junky. C4's really hold their value and can be had for cheap on routine sales. I don't keep tabs on Wild Country cams but I don't think the same can be said. With the sling I also doubt their longevity. That being said I have used them on a partners rack and think they are sweet cams. I really dig the metolius UL cams. I've got sizes 1-6, above the black I don't like them. I'll be replacing my 6 soon for either a BD or if i'm feeling ostentatious i'll pickup a Totem or WC to replace it.

The range on the Ultralights is identical to the normal C4's though so it seems like an oversight not to at least consider the option. "The trigger takes to much force to engage the cam" Apparently it's too hard to pull the trigger on a C4... Who knew?

@Matt Zia I'm not quite sold on the ultralights. I don't like their price point and I don't like the manufacturer suggested longevity of the cams (too short). @Abram Herman I think you might have read incorrectly. The C4 has an amazing trigger pull, it's the ultralight metolius master cam that I feel does not. @Mstolorena I'll give that a try, it worked amazingly with my micros. I can't even remember what the trigger on my larger metolius was like new. I'm going to be traveling through S. America for a year and I'm trying to get a main rack with little regard to weight to cover larger sizes along with a double rack that's lighter per cam, allowing for more cams per rack. I suppose my reason for this approach is that I want to have some better options to play around with so that I know what I will bring.

I think the cams that fit my desires the most in this context are the wild country friends followed by the demons then the 4cu's. I'd need some more experience with the larger totems before I could make the call to put them on my rack and even then they'd probably end up on my main rack.

I was a little confused about that comment when I thought it was about the BD ultralights; I have to agree that the larger sizes of mastercams do have a pretty stiff trigger. That's what I get for skimming threads ;-)

I think the Ultralight Mastercams have a great trigger, and I dislike flimsy trigger pulls. I like a nice snap, makes me feel like there is enough pressure to keep things from walking too much. I also love how light and the ultralight mastercams are. I don't have the full range, but I have sizes from #7 (BD gold) down to #00 and really like them all. The #7 saved me from getting my head smashed in from an aid fall last Spring, when the piece I was standing on popped. At this point my double rack usually consists of Totems and ultralight mastercams. Couple of standard mastercams and C4s thrown in where there are gaps.
