List of 5th class peaks in the east

Has anyone tried to put together an official list of 5th class peaks on the east coast? I'd like to know if there any true fifth class peaks in the east other than Seneca. Would the Pinnacle in Huntington Ravine be considered a peak? What about in the South, is there anything down there that you would need technical climbing to get up?

Being on the east coast, i would love to hear what others have to say about this.

Pinnacle buttress is an alpine rock climb to a alpine garden below a peak that sports many hikeing trails, a train and an auto road to the summit complete with restarunte and gift shop.  In witner it is much more of a chalange but still sports many 3rd class trails to the summit as well as a snow cat service to the observatory.  Seneca is  too small to really be considered a mountain but it certainly resembles a tower or perhaps a peak?  the summit of south peak is atainable at 5.1 but it is  sand bag Seneca 5.1 Could be called 5.5 in many areas.... the Cocks Comb is 5.6 to the summit but looks pretty hard .  In 10 or 11 trips to Seneca I have never seen anyone on the Cocks Comb...

Don't forget Chimney Mountain's sub-summit in the Adirondacks. It's 40' of 5.0, something like that.

And there are a few detached pillars at Lost City in the Gunks, that require more than a big stride to reach.

The Madison Boulder is 23' high.

How low are your standards for this list?

Are you freaking serious? Like, Whitesides? Laurel Knob? Are you freaking stupid? Let's plug in a few others like Gothics in the Daks and I am just amazed at what a freaking stupid post this was.

Jim, no need to be so rude...  You could have just added in your contributions without calling the previous posters stupid.

Jim, I don't think the consensus grading for the easiest route to the top of any of those peaks is fifth-class or even fourth-class.

The question was about freaking fifth-class peaks, not freaking fifth-class routes.

Looks like Jim wins the dickhead of the day award.  Yay Jim.  I was always under the impression that the south peak of Seneca was the only peak east of the Mississippi that requires 5th class climbing to reach.

I mean, there are dozens of sandstone/gritstone towers in Pennsylvania, but only in the 40-60 foot range. Again, it's all a matter of perspective, i.e. what you consider a peak. For example, there are hundreds of sandstone towers throughout the Southwest, but not many, if any, are considered true peaks. the same can be said for the towers of the RRG. As a Geography Major, I consider a peak to be any summit that is only achievable by technical means, notwithstanding height requirements. However, the benchmark tends to be two pitches of 5th Class climbing on a peak with more 200 feet of optimistic prominence from the parent peak, hence Seneca's designation as a true peak. With 120 feet of clean prominence from the creek bed, and 220 feet of optimistic prominence from the highest neighbor, which is by definition the parent peak, it meets the requirements.

Pilot mountain in NC. But unfortunately it's illegal to climb on the knob.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
