What are some of the best first time areas to take new climbers?
how new? thin wall and trash can rock and two places that come to mind
Atlantis is a good place to do top rope, but the climbs aren't that easy. Turtle rock has some fun easy climbs.
I've never been to Joshua tree before but I've been climb for 5 years, I mostly looking for some easy top rope or trad for my cousin to follow.
From the Hidden Valley Campground parking lot you can easily walk to The Bong (5.4), Upper Right Ski Track (5.3), and The Eye (5.4).
I would not recommend the Bong... the down climb is serious.
Upper Right Ski Track... you sit at bolts on top... when climber gets to you... tell em to just lean back, to get lowered... if that goes OK... go do the Eye.
