I need a rock climbing training regimen
|

I need a rock climbing training regimen and have absolutely no idea where to start. The Rock Climber's training manual looks good, but I haven't paid more than $10 for a book since college. Thoughts? |

Stop being a book miser. |

The majority of the content from the RCTM is on their website and blog posts. |

Get a 1 month membership to Climb Strong. For $10 you will get a few dozen training plans to choose from. Pick the one that suits you best. |

Just pay for the Rock Climber's Training Manual, The Anderson Brothers have put a ton of time into providing great training information for us to use, you might as say thanks by purchasing their book. |

It's simply worth it. A personal trainer will cost you way more. Things are laid out very clearly. If you have enough self-motivation, you'll do just fine. |

I got my RCTM when they first came out my copy is signed by the Anderson brothers. The book is awesome I have done the program twice. I might not have followed it completely but got super strong. And I'm pretty sure the gym close to my house follows it in there training programs. So much information not only gets you stronger but informs you on how not to hurt yourself. |

Thank you all who have provided useful information. It is appreciated. I don't buy things just to say thanks, I'm glad that I've received good info to make an informed decision. |

The RCTM is the gold standard for sure, but I also just picked up Horst's new book (the rock climbers exercise guide) and it's a nice bite sized, easy to absorb book that's a nice compliment to the textbook that is RCTM. I do prefer RCTM over 'Training for Climbing' as the base information text. |

And maybe there's another person or company that I want to send my money to thank them for a job well done Ken. I wanted further information on available training regimens so I could give my money to who I choose based on what product I want. I got the information that I wanted. Thank you for your opinion and thank everyone for such good info! |

What is your current ability? |

Do you need a regimented training program? Probably not. This applies to sport and trad as well as bouldering: |
