Anyone seen GWI lately?

Yes I climbed it yesterday......in very nice shape except exit pitch, which is wet and split by running water. Climbers left goes with some dirt on the exit , or a careful step right over the water.

I was at Provo today....several wet lines on Stairway, right most will give way to 3rd or 4th tier.....all lines are wet.

Bridalvail right and center, as well as routes to the right are dry and good.

Climb safe!

The upper pitch is still pretty thin at the lip.

Well there is some pent up demand in the community and lines are coming in. Expect to see others on your route tomorrow. Traffic was friendly at the GWI this morning.

Conditions Update:

GWI
- Exit Pitch is spicy. Little-to-no pro getting onto the mushroom (climber right side exit). Beyond that, you are slinging roots for pro and finishing in dirt.

Scruffy
- A climber at the base said it was in. Driving past, it still looks like veneer.

Questions:
Has anyone checked on anything in the Pinnacles area?

I'll be solo in Maple Canyon Monday checking on conditions. I won't be able to start until 12 ish. Will anyone be there then?

Alpinerocket. I might be able to make it down there. Any interest in carpooling?

I hiked up to scruffy band today 12/9 and while it is certainly climbable (with gentleness) I walked away. Too thin still for screws in the first 40 feet. Like most other things, it was running water too.

I may be down. When were you thinking?

Wondering if anyone has any updates on conditions in santaquin?

Still to warm and wet for me on the GWI....there were 4 others at the base of pitch one thinking about going up when I bailed this morning. Barley freezed overnight at the powerplant. Wouldent recommend anyone climbing it at the moment. Looks like low elevation temps are not very promising.

Provo Canyon avalanche control 12/12/16 10:00am-11:30am. Backcountry closure (including all ice climbs from Canyon Glen Park to Vivian Park) is in effect from 12:15am to 11:30am on Dec. 12, 2016. US189 will have intermittent closures. More info available on UAC home page. Thank you.

GWI is definitely not fat but a lot better than Sunday.

Upper pitches of Dead Deer Falls today, the first pitch had about 10 feet hanging down from the top of it.

Eagle Falls only other climbable one in

The best one in, of course, is on private land and NO CLIMBING when you go left at the intersection

Where is Dead Deer Falls? Is the route listed on MP?

By Duchesne. Its in the Beehive Ice guidebook. The area has access issues for sure. Tempting routes on private land. Under the radar location which is more known now. Ok that its not in the MP database. Fickle area with very unpredictable conditions. Rock is terrible. Ice can be bad. And, with the private land issues, I think its best that its stayed low profile.

Got it.

If you do some digging you can hunt down the location of dead deer falls in old ice threads here on MP. I'll also say it's hardly worth the effort. I don't want to be a naysayer but in terms of quality it doesn't compare to any Provo Canyon routes. There are some pretty impressive routes in that area though, some accessible, some not.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
