How long does the discounted team ride last up at the bird? Also, when do start to frown on letting the climbers up?

I thought tram rides are done for the season. Seams like until they are really preparing to open the mountain for the season it's fair game....seams like we have another week or two to get on it.

Tram closed Sunday, according to Cody at the ticketing office. Hiking is the only current option. I did some laps up snowbird Saturday, clouds obscured Rookie Party, I will probably check it out Thursday/Friday if weather holds.

Quite likely not until the sun has its chance to do some work on the snow from the last couple of days, the last couple of unseasonably warm weeks have destroyed all the early season stuff. Feel free to go out and check it out though.

Ya I would be shocked if it had any more ice than it did the day I went up mid October when I posted that picture in this thread on Oct.18. Mabey after a few more cold nights. There just hassent been that much moisture around for ice. However the beehive ice book said that the mosquito wall was fed by a creek. When I was up there I never really saw a creek above the crag. Mabey I missed it.

The creek that feeds November wall forms up above the amphitheater, trickles down through the cracks in the rocks forming the ice there, then flows down to above mosquito, where it trickles through the cracks in the rocks again. Mosquito wall is from melt/freeze cycles, never really came in last year. There have been some good lines forming on Hayden, climbed a couple of them back in October, before the cursed heat destroyed them, hopefully they will come back soon.

Does anyone have any info on conditions up at Sundial/Lake Blanche? Trying to see if ice would be in this coming weekend.

Walk up there and find out. It was very icicle-y the last time I walked up there about a week ago and not in.

Lots of ice in the Uintas, just have to look. First 2 pics are my teenage son and I last Sunday. Following pics are from what I climbed yesterday. Sorry about sideways pics, it won't let me rotate them.

The route I did with my son is Cobblerest Falls. It's in Beehive Ice, and the book description is fairly accurate, but it's still a fun early season route, especially this season. The steep sections took 16cm screw when we climbed it, should be even better by now I would think. The route I did yesterday I am going to have to stay quiet about. I found it by looking at pictures of somebody by it in the summer, thought I would check it out, and WOW! What a route! Found 2 bolt anchor at the top, not my route, so I don't really want to give up somebody else's gem without their blessing. Sorry guys. If you recognize it, please PM me, would like some more info on it. On a side note, the Hard to Find Falls should be in, usually if one Cobblerest is in, they both are in. It's a fun little climb, but a bitch to get to (damn slippery tualus in big boots). And when I was up there yesterday, the Road Closed signs were up on the Evanston side, but gate was still open, and road was pretty much clear, but its been snowing on the north side here all day, so who knows how much longer it will stay that way.

@william We're you able to drive all the way on the dirt road to the waterfall still? That'd be a long walk in snow!! Also I am more interested about what lies down canyon from there. Was ice hunting in the area two weeks ago and think there is a lot of single pitch potential. Did you go any further?
