My girlfriend and I will likely be moving to Anchorage in January and are trying to get into water ice climbing this winter before we move back to the lower 48. We've only done 2 days of guided glacier climbing this past summer in Seward and fell in love with it. Basically, we're looking for someone to mentor us with safety as the number one priority :) We have already purchased boots, crampons, 1 set of tools, some screws, and then we have all of our rock gear. We're not great climbers ... 5.7 T, 5.9 S. We're both 28 and easy going people, so hopefully we can make some friends and have some fun!
You just missed the Mountaineering Club of Alaska's annual ice fest. I'd suggest joining the group as there are several experienced members that enjoy teaching newer climbers.

Thank you. I'll definitely look into that for 2017!
