I've tried to like golf, can't last past 9 holes, even if I'm piss drunk, especially if I'm piss drunk. Matt, I am not trying to scare you to your safe space, I promise.

s.price wrote: Wyoming? There is a reason it is the least populated state. You know why the wind blows all the time in Wyoming don't ya? Cause 90% of it sucks. The other 10% just shows that even the worst have at least something to offer. Pagosa the next Durango? Bring it on. The restaurant scene there kicks ass. And very few places in the US of A have the diversity of climbing found within a short, easy drive from town. Sailing Hawks is one of the best bouldering areas you will find anywhere right in town limits. You should really brush up on your topic before you let go with your spray. Like most who do not know better, Colorado is not all the front range. That's the 10% of CO that sucks. S-Dawg, I've never spent any time on the front range. The restaraunt scene is decent, but you'll soon get tired of the lack of variety. A great brewery scene, (Steamworks is my staple) but you can only eat so much decent indian food. The thai food here is atrocious and the mexican food, well it sucks. East A has a few good routes, Fume wall feels like you're going to get run over by a texan in an RV at any moment. X-Rock, well, theres a reason why you always have the crag to yourself. I'll hand it to you though, Lemon is fun, and I haven't climbed at Cascade. (Pssst, Piedra is ok, but thats it, it's OK>) And if Sailing Hawk is one of the best, then there's a reason why bouldering sucks. After you're done bouldering on amazing shitty rock, you can go grab a drink downtown. Then you can be panhandled and threatened by the "homeless" because the DURANGO POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE TOO BIG OF PUSSIES TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY MAKE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY, AND CHOOSE TO DEFEND PEOPLE THAT HARASS/INTIMIDATE anyone with anything to offer. (PM me and I'll be happy to elaborate.) Don't get me wrong, if all I was interested in was skiing and trail running I would never leave, but this town is so fake it's amazing. The mayor and city council continue to adjust the rules whenever some entity with money wants to break them. I consider myself lucky to be able to sell my property before a 3 story hotel goes in on 3rd ave. (Which was against code until Rinderle and her possee voted to change the rules. I pray she never has the final say for the village at Wolf Creek). I actually envy you in PS. If my wife and I didn't have to be within 20 minutes of Mercy I would be in PS in a heart beat. Now that I think about it, I bet we know some of the same people. I'm bitter about the cahnges I've seen in 4 years, I'll admit it. We have a sweet set-up here. We are lucky enough to own a home and have well paying jobs. But I've never seen a town with so much uniqueness piss away all it's character and I'm glad we're leaving.

This is exactly why there aren't many evangelicals in the climbing community. Because you guys harsh the FUCKING mellow. Your always seem to object to how other people want to live their lives. How about live and let live? I think Jesus would be down with that. You've got a right to do, to believe, to exist and to climb and to browse whatever and wherever you want and I will never infringe try and deny you that. But when you start talking about what people can and cannot do with their own lives, I will fucking argue my face off about your hypocritical stone-aged bullshit belief system. Fritz N. wrote: Let me paraphrase: watch your fucking ass -- I might just be praying for it! :-P Watch my fucking ass you say? I think that right there is exactly the problem with y'all. You care too much what other people do with their asses. Maybe watch out for some of your priests. I hear they've been praying a little too much for other peoples asses, namely helpless children. Instead, go pray for world peace, stay out of mine and everyone else's personal lives and let me (and everyone else) do what they want with their genitals. Peace.

This got way off topic fast. Having spent the better part of the last 9 yrs in Colorado, 8 in Boulder, and the last year in GJ, I do feel CO is going downhill fast. Traffic, crowds, culture. I don't have anything against MJ but the culture it is bringing to the state is not my fav. I personally don't want to smell weed everytime I am out for a bike ride or walk around town. And that is just about any town in CO now. But at least the weed masks the smell of the dregs that have moved in to take advantage of the laws. As to the climbing in CO, there is a ton of it....no doubt. A lot good to great, and a lot that is junk but stuff was developed in what seems to be just to accommodate crowds. Same with the skiing. Can you avoid crowds? Sure, but you really have to work for it, and even that is getting harder and harder.

This is a climbing website and it has gotten waay off topic and is a waste of all of our time. I just couldn't let someone defend Focus on the Family. They are a toxic group of backwards thinking cretins. I just hope one day evangelicals will try to love everyone like their dear Jesus tells them to and quit trying to make life hard for everyone who does not look or think like them.

We legalized here in Oregon and you smell it from certain backyards in my town of people who have a few plants. You smell it occasionally downtown. But it smells way better than walking through a bunch of cigarette smoke, that's for damn sure! Make a bolt for New Mexico man! Taos, Las Cruces and Santa Fe are cool towns. No crowds man. Chill vibe.

I agree with Carlos. Too many n00bs from Kansas moving here to "fulfill their dreams of being the best grower in the world". I like weed as much as the next guy but I hate smelling it everywhere. They all rally on the front range and hike the same trails, drive the same roads, and generally suck. GTFO n00bs CCC was so Fckd this weekend holy s***. Gumbies parking up and down both sides of the whole canyon doing gumby stuff. Throwing their roaches in the bushes, hang dogging like bawses, and being a general nuisance. GTFO

I live in Washington, and though it is legal here, I have not experienced the same issues as what you guys are saying you have in CO. Are the laws that different between the two states?

I also don't mind the smell at all but I think Colorado suffers from being the first so all the pretentious, professional potheads moved there and the real recreational users are just chilling in Oregon and Washington. We don't have edibles or concentrates either. Just flowers.

I lived in CO from 1998 to the end of 2014. It changed quite a bit in that time. I was lucky to have moved there before the whole world did. I was pretty burned out on the place when we left. That said, now that we have moved to another state, I realize how much we took the place for granted. It really is an awesome place to be. We will probably move back at some point, but not to the front range unless we really need to... (sorry natives, but arbitrary state lines don't really matter, and I escaped CA as fast as I could at age 20!)

Do you think the throngs of people are going to suddenly move to somewhere like Louisiana if they made weed legal also?

My question is not people moving there, but that so much smoking, growing, etc, to the detriment of the vibe. Sounds like it is beyond rampant. I assumed it was a legal difference, but maybe it is more people moving to that state, or maybe it is the base Coloradoans! Hmm, interesting.

Seems like Ohio has a large influx into the state too. As long as you don't live between the springs and fort Collins, you'd never notice.

I don't think it has to do anything to do with pot and more with populations increase. The US population increased by more 50% and it doubled in Colorado. When I moved here 15 years ago people were already taking about the front range becoming one big suburb from Ft Collins to Colorado Springs. It is getting there.
