Seam sealing an old Mountain Hardwear Trango 2

I've got an old Trango 2 that I haven't used in a while, and the factory seam tape on the fly is flaking off. It would probably be wise to seam seal the seams...

The seams are taped on the underside of the fly. Should I seam grip the outside of the seams or the underside? Probably would be a pain to cleanly apply a layer of seam grip with the flaking seam tape.

I've found conflicting information, just curious what other folks would do.

Is it silicone coated nylon or PU coated? .... That determines the sealant you use

Youll want to do the outside seams unless you can get the tape off

Send it back to MH. I had a 5+ year old tent that had the tape coming off. They replaced it. Otherwise, use SeamGrip on the outside.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
