Looking to get some climbing in next weekend, considering heading to Fremont Canyon in Casper. Does anyone know if it's in and, if so, are there any recommendations on specific routes/areas that would be more prone to sun/warmth?
I'm a little confused with your question because I've only heard the term "..if it's in.." used in relation to ice. If you are looking for rock climbing, it is possible but it wont be comfortable. I've climbed there in 40 degree weather this time of year, but for any route that does get sun, a good portion of the bottom may be shaded meaning your hands will be numb for a bit. The other challenge will be the wind which is typically screaming.
Routes that get early sun include most of the north hand rail area starting at the far east end with star plunge which gets full sun early and then move over to B-25, stone king, and others in that area. Later in the day do easy day for a lady.
The chief or wine and roses area also is good for sun - thanatos is a good early starter followed by wine and roses, cashew corner, terminator goes to the prom, what no rope, the chief.
The east side of the narrows is good for afternoon sun - hang on loosely and the slab route.
The love shack area also gets a good bit of sun if you want really short sport routes.
