Dan Osman... R.I.P.

I can fully appreciate and respect what having a child can do to a person, but maybe Dan, John and Michael were experiencing something that none of us ever will, and maybe that experience was/is more important than being a parent. That is totally sad and disgusting. Dan Osman, Sean Leary, Michael Reardon, Shane McConkey, John Bachar use to be great in my mind. Now I voice my opinion when I get the chance. |

I may disagree with the poster but I do not disrespect him or his position. There have been a number of back and forths so there is interest in the ideas. And by the way, after seeing your monumental commitment and contributions to climbing, it's hard for me to see you as anything more than a ridiculous imposter. Gym and TR...oooh, I can't tell you how impressed I am! I don't know how you could even have an inkling of what DO or others were or were not doing. Quit bashing a dead man you clown. |

Frank posts wisdom that is spot on. For myself, I find those guys climbing efforts were amazing. Not just the folks mentioned, plenty more who's names have disappeared to me now. Some of whom I've tied in with. Sad. |

I guess differing opinions aren't allowed here. You people are pretty sad really. It's not enough to say you disagree with me, which would be fine. Instead I get these hissy fits from the children. Are you holding your breath until you turn blue when you write them. Or do you throw yourself flat on the floor kicking and screaming? |

As far the whole being dead thing goes. We all end up dead sooner or later and just because someone is dead, it doesn't mean that what he/she did in life was any better or worse. Oh dear.... |

Would you folks talk the way you are if you knew Dano's sweet daughter was in the room? ... because she probably is. |

frank minunni wrote: Being a parent is perhaps our best chance at leaving a better world in our wake. . Arguably it is the worst thing you can do from a carbon footprint perspective. I say that you keep patting yourself on the back though. As long as your kid isn't a shit head it is probably a +1 for society |

As long as your kid isn't a shit head it is probably a +1 for society That's a completely different concept. I have some opinions on that (of course) although I am definitely torn on the issue of stressing the environment. I wouldn't go near it in this forum because it's a complicated issue and the shit storm would be overwhelming. BTW She's a good kid, adult now actually. |

Frank, I simply disagree with you hijacking this thread from the start.. especially to push your personal agenda. |

dave higdon wrote:Frank, I simply disagree with you hijacking this thread from the start.. especially to push your personal agenda. The OP was simply pointing out what an inspirational climber DO was... This is not the Frank Poonani show. Go watch some Dr. Phil... Your not very fun :( Disagree or not, you have no concept of civility. |

And look what you did they started a whole new thread to bitch about you |

Free soloing is neither. |

Matt Wilson wrote:Free soloing .... Maybe we should call it "radical free soloing." Alpinism ... mountaineering ... commonly involve free soloing, just not at this level. Hell, I even walk up stairs without holding onto the railing. |
