I have been bouldering at the rockhouse in brookfield mass for a couple months now and there is some great problems ! wondering if anyone else has checked it out ? Also have been climbing the highrocks about a 70ft crag in east brookfield. There is one bolted route but that is all, has alot of potential.

Isn't this related to this thread?

High Rocks has been climbed for years. It is one of those more obscure places like Bunyan Mountain that has limited access. You can get to the top with a 4x4. I'm not sure on the legality of the access.

Why pinch pebbles when you can climb a real cliff? ;-)

Rock house reservation is actually in Ware, Ma located directly of Rt.9 between Ware and West Brookfield. Access is very easy with a parking lot 50 yrds. from some of the climbs. The site is a well visited nature area with well marked trails and port potties in season. As a result nearly all the boulders (of which there are plenty) are easily reached and accessed. Most boulders are under 20' with good landing areas. The area is popular with both families, dog lovers, and teenagers enjoying the quietness and features of the site.

High Rocks had bolted and mixed routes that were chopped by The King of Connecticut. The WMCC is working on re-establishing access.

Rock House is owned by the Trustees, who are sometimes funny about rock climbing. I would climb there (I have long ago), but would keep the noise, chalk, and internet spray to an absolute minimum.

Some potential cool stuff across the road and in the woods if'n somebody was interested.

My understanding is someone recently bolted high rocks and someone recently chopped high rocks

I have said it before and will say it again, when Ward leaks a tip about good rock, you follow that tip. I will hopefully be checking this out soon...

Thanks.

My wife's family lives in the area and we recently walked around there a bit. There's chalk on a bunch of obvious lines throughout the reservation, but I agree w/ Ward that keeping it quiet and low-key is good idea.

From the map (pdf) it looks like all the land across the road (I assume you mean Rt. 9?) is private. For what it's worth.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
