Belaying from above

I'm trying to figure out a rappelling route and don't know how to return back up the route after rappelling down. Is it possible for someone to belay me from above if they are anchored in? Or would I need to set up free climbing anchors on the way down. Can someone give me advice? |

No, it's not possible. |

I've seen this done with a rubber boat before. If you take your rubber boat down with you you should be fine, all set, on beloat. |

I was planning on getting taught, I just wondered if it was possible. I'm going to find someone that has done it to teach me. |

You can also equalize a single strand of rope on the top anchor, rappel the single strand, ascend the rope with rope-ascending gear--which we call jugging aka jumaring |
