3 ice climbers dead on Joffre peak. What went wrong?
3 dead in a fall while ascending a couloir. Anybody has accident details/analysis besides what the media tells you? |
Roping up doesn't do much for you if you aren't putting in any pro. Where did you get the idea they were "ice climbers?" The article doesn't mention that. |
I'd also be interested in additional details if anyone hears them. The article says they had crampons so they were at least partially prepared. |
Those three were no novices. Something must have happened. No one in their right mind goes up a line that steep without being confident in their preparedness, especially taking a visiting friend on it. |

I only read the news reports that Google came up with. All the articles said the cause was slip and fall and the party was exprienced. |

Very sad to read that a husband found his wife deceased. A heck of a coincidence that the OP, others and I were just conversationing about the area a couple days ago.Yes indeed that hit pretty close. There was a group of friends supposed to meet us in the area. We thought it was them when we heard the news. They ended up going to Marble actually. |

Climbers identified but still no real detail about what might have gone wrong. |

I'm not sure about the accident, but what went wrong here on MP.com is when I failed to notice that a troll started this thread in the first place. |
