Climbing in Boulder/Colorado from May 11th till May 15th

I'm searching for a partner/partners for climbing in Colorado. I'm flying in from NY (usually climb in the gunks) on the 11th, and expect to have the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th completely available for climbing. Starting the 16th I'll be occupied with the National Cave Rescue Commission's weeklong cave rescue course being hosted in Divide, CO (which is why I'm coming out). I'll have a car, and could bring my full trad rack and/or ropes if I needed to.

I'm nothing spectacular, but am comfortable on-sight leading 5.9s in the gunks. I'm happy to provide climbing references if desired. I would SO love to be climbing while in CO, and am coming out early for that purpose.

Hope to make something happen!

Hey Mark,

I won't be starting work until the 18th so let's pick a day and get out! Maybe the 12th or 13th? Some moderate multi-pitch in Eldo or ...??? Let me know!

Sounds fantastic! I'd love to get started as soon as I get to Colorado, so the 12th would be perfect. Since I've never been to CO before, I'm very happy to defer to your preference! Eldo looks beautiful. :)

I'm certain I can find the place - mountain project lists the coordinates as 39.9318,-105.2813 and I've looked at google maps. But if you had the coordinates for a specific parking area where we'd meet, that'd be handy. Does cell service from Verizon work in there so I can call you?

Finally, should I figure out bringing my rack/rope out to CO?

I can't think of anything else. I'm excited!

Great Mark, let's plan on the 12th then! Finding a place to meet shouldn't be too hard, plenty of lots around. The parking across from this gas station usually works well. I can drive us into the park since I've got a pass...

Can't really say if it's worth bringing the rack and rope or not. I've got all the gear we'd need but of course don't know what the rest of your days will look like. Let's keep in touch and we can figure out any more details closer to the 12th.

Send me a message if you are still looking for a partner when you get here. I will likely be free all of that time, live very close to Eldo, Boulder Canyon, Flatirons, etc.

Eric:

That parking lot sounds good! I'll be there. :)

I hadn't wanted to impose and assume we would use your gear; but if I can skip bringing a full rack and rope, it'll make travel so much easier. I already have so much stuff I need to bring for the cave rescue training. So if I get awesome partners on the other days, I'll be in the clear!

Do you work single-rope? Dual rope? Twin rope?

Looking forward to it!

Paul:

Will do! People have been amazing here on Mountain Project. :D

Hey Mark,

Yeah, no problem using my gear. And I'm on a single rope.

Also, to be clear, you do not need a rack or rope to climb with me either. I doubt you will need to bring one if you do not want. You will likely find a partner for at least 3 of those days that will provide a rack.

Hey all,

I'll also be in boulder, from the 7th to the 14th. I'll likely have a basic rack but no rope and would be down swap leads or belays in eldo or the flatirons.

Here's my number, 404-916-2556. Or just PM me and we can work out some details!

Eric: That sounds perfect!

Paul: I know it's early, but I sent you a PM. Thanks!

Jon: I sent you a PM as well. We need to figure out a rope, but other than that, climbing would be awesome.

jamesm: Looks like Shelf Road is a great place to climb!

I have a few people I'm waiting on hearing back from, and I'd not want to change anything on them suddenly, but so long as I'm free on the 14th, I'll be there! Similar to the other posts, you've got the gear for trad climbing, as I'll only be bringing my basic stuff to clean and rescue.

When do you need to know by?

I leave for the airport in 6 hours!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
