Ascenders

So I have one left Petzl ascender and I've been looking around for a right one but no luck. Is it really annoying to use two lefts or is that ok?

Aren't they commonly sold individually?

If you look around the base of Half Dome, you might find the right ascender I dropped there last year!

I might not be clear about what you're asking but Backcountry (and many other online retailers) sell the right ascender individually. Here's a link:

They are sold separately so it will be easy to buy the right one. I couldn't imagine using two left handed ascenders...

I'm guessing the OP doesn't want to pay full price and is waiting for a single one to appear on ebay.

What are you planning on using it for? If you're just going to jug one really long rope and you never have to take the ascender on or off it's not that annoying. During normal use on a wall it would be pretty annoying.

If you don't want to buy a right ascender, you can do your jugging with one ascender and a grigri.

Put ascender on rope above grigri also attached to rope.
Take break end of rope from grigri and run this up and through a carbiner (with pulley is nice) and back down to your hand.
Push ascender up rope
When you stand in the ladder attached to your ascender, pull in the slack going through grigri (you get a 2:1ish advantage for this)
Repeat.

Works well for cleaning steep and traversing stuff. Great for jugging overhanging rope.
Horrible for ascending on less-than-vertical terrain. Also goes slower than normal bigwall ascending technique.
