Hey all,

Where would you but down base?

Ideal logistics.
Cool, free camping, trees and river preferrable.
Good cragging in walking distance.
Good cragging in bike range, 6 miles or so.
Town for supplies within 10 miles.

Somewhere by the Buena Vista crags?
Turkey Rocks?
Taylor Canyon near Gunny?
Vedawoo?

Up to easy 11's? coming from downtime in TX. Cracks preferred over sport, but camping by a sport crag would be sick too. Plus for 14'ers in stricking distance via bike. Big van to park, so car camping.

Buena Vista sounds like your perfect location with the Arkansas river going right through the campground. Good brewery-pizza place down the river that you should definitely check out as well.

What month? September vs. November would bring to mind very different sets of areas.

Crested Butte, but u'd need a bike. . . camped up there for a whole summer while working in town as a pastry chef. Best summer of my life so far.

nowish thru end of sept timeframe.

I've lived in Crested Butte, Gunny, and Boulder over the years.

Independence pass is looking good. Little hot in Durango nowish?
It's seems like there should be a secret spot up around Estes, but the only 2 I know require 4wd.

Seems like somewhere just outta GJ might be nice, but too hot?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
