$20 dollar bill 80' feet up.....

Just thought I would get some opinions on this. I Just got back from climbing in the Gunks and I found a crisp $20 bill about 80' up on a little 4 inch grassy ledge. It was not a belay area by any means, which means it must have flown up or someone dropped it.

Now here is what I am curious of...Has ANYONE ever found a a twenty spot while multi pitching on a climb? I am curious what the odds of me being the lucky poor boy are.

P.s.- I spent it on ice cream and alcohol

P.s.s~ We also found a pair of climbing shoes at the base of High Exposure. So if you know anyone looking for their kicks, I listed them in "lost and found" forum.

Sounds to me like a very strategically placed Poo Dollar (I'll save you the explanation and let you just look it up on urban dictionary)

You just got paid to climb. Consider yourself a pro-climber now! =) Never happened to me, but I'm sure it's not unheard of.

I don't know, some people would consider keeping that $20 stealing.

FWIW, we found a 100 franc note in Chamonix once and spent it all on food and treats. Statute of limitations has expired, fortunately.

Well I suppose I could put an ad in "lost in found" forum asking if anyone had lost a twenty in the Gunks

I'm surprised and saddened that you haven't already.
You'll have to ask claimants to identify the bill, of course.

You clearly stole that money. Talk about climber on climber crime. Did you find it between the hours of 9:00 pm and 9:00 am? If so, it should have been obvious that they would be back that morning to pick it up.

screw that -- hookers and blow, and a Sam Adams; always a good decision

Not sure where you are from, but where I am and have been 20 bucks is only gonna get you a gummer and maybe a single tug if you keep the Sam Adams, without the beer maybe two tugs. So I'd say the op made the right choice going with ice cream and booze.

Was it green on one side and gray on the other with the number 20 in each corner and a picture of Andrew Jackson? That's mine. I left it there (somewhere in the Gunks) fully intending to return for it. Please send it to me.

How many times do we have to go over this? It's only stealing if there's a 20 on every 4" ledge on the route. If you're too stupid to understand this, you're not a climber.

I never found any $ while climbing but I did lose some once. I was about 5 pitches up in the Potrero when I reached into my pocket for my lip balm and when I pulled it out a 200 peso bill went flying off into the breeze.

I was two pitches up on the Nose @ Looking Glass in NC when some dude epicing on Sundial Crack took a whipper. Tore his pocket and wallet clear open. The 5mph wind rained down 20's on us. Must have snagged 80-160 bucks out of the air, and would have grabbed more were it not for the aforementioned two pitches of granite below us. Surreal autumn afternoon.

FYI, we ended up giving him his $, and fresh ATM receipt back.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
