Arc'Teryx Atom LT: Hoody or non? -also- versus Paty Nanopuff
|
I have the opportunity to buy a new Arc'Teryx Atom LT in either jacket or hoody form for a good deal - any recommendations on hoody versus non? |
|
I have the jacket, and wish that I had the hoody. Personal preference maybe. The atom is WAY nicer than the Nano too. |

Get the hoodie it's a no brainer. I have the Atom SV if you have the option go SV it's defiantly worth the extra coin. Top it off with a shell and it's a great mountaineering setup. I use the Beta AR in spring and Alpha SV in winter. Also the nano isn't a bad idea for pack-ability. I use the Western Mountianeering Flash XR when I need to go light. The Atom won't pack down very small. |

Hoody, no question. |

Cool, thanks for the responses guys. |

M. C. wrote:Nice pic Brandon! Thanks man! Wow actually they pack down pretty similarly huh. Not sure why I thought the Atom didn't pack down as good... Does it come with a stuff sack? Ok, on my way to buy me an Atom LT Hoody goodness. The SV looks nice too, but it's not on sale, and also I think I will need the breathability of those stretch panels. Thanks for the advice guys! Just a note, SV doesn't have those stretch panels under the arm. |

Atom LT and layering a Nanopuff jacket or hoody in med. either on top of or below it? I use the same system that Dane is referring to and a M nanopuff pull over fits very nice over a M Atom LT (Patagonia cuts are generally pretty boxy and generous). Very versatile for winter or shoulder season climbing. If it's really cold out or if I foresee a bivy in winter, a M Atom SV fits over either or both of the pieces well too. |

Can't go wrong with the Atom LT though. Only piece of kit I've paid full price for and I think it was worth every penny Yeah, Paty is so gonzo big sometimes. |

My Atom LT and SV are hooded, Nano is the pullover (no hood). |

Who's Roger? Wait for the Hoody. |

He's related to Shirley. |

Atom LT hoody is awesome. |

M. C. wrote:He's related to Shirley. Yeah. I'll probably end up with both. But, at $95, the non-hood was a pretty good deal so I figure I'll use it for winter running and sports... Who the fuck is Shirley? Save the extra $95, buy either the Patagonia R1 Hoody on sale or NWAlpine Spider. I wear those two pieces on just about every climb during the winter. |
