Are there any objective advantages of a u-stem cam over a single-stem cam? All other things held equal.

Well I think most would be kind of obvious, but one I like the flex of a single stem in a horizontal. Don't get me wrong my metolius bend nicely, but I prefer to use a more flexible single stem.

I find the Metolius TCU and Power Cams to be more flexible than Camalots and Friends.

True the TCU's bend like crazy, but I'm always afraid of distorting the stem a bit. Good to know that isn't the case.

on a direct powercam/TCU to mastercam comparison, the single stem units rotate more freely on the axle that a U-stem. But this is a cause of the kevlar trigger wires, versus the metal wire/swaging.

single stems do better in pin scars, or other features where the dual stem interferes with the rock.

The U stems have a larger profile than the single stem models. This is due to the stems conecting to the axle on the outside of the cams. The U stem #2 (yellow) powercam will require a deeper crack than the single stem #.3 (blue) C4. Hope this helps to answer your question.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
