Climbing for beginners in South Lake Tahoe

Heading up to Tahoe for three days with some friends before a wedding. They have some climbing experience, but I'm the only one with any lead climbing experience. They've expressed some interest in climbing though and I thought I would see if there is an easier cragging cliff in the area.

I'm comfortable setting up gear and natural anchors as well as leading up to 5.11- on bolts and gear. I am looking for something with a good variety of 5.7-5.10 routes, preferably single pitch. If a spot has good access for setting up topropes that is even better.

90 ft wall at emerald bay is where most south tahoe climbers take there friends who are learning. easy access and all anchors are bolted. expect a crowd.

Looks perfect for the group I'll be with. Moderate routes, hopefully the crowds will be low mid-week when we are up there. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I agree 90 Ft Wall is a good choice, although a long drive from sacramento or the bay area.

Another closer alternative is there are a couple easy-ish friction Top Ropes at Sugar Loaf on the West Buttress.

Also Cosumnes River Gorge too.

Yeah, sugarloaf if you're leading 11's on gear or bolts and if you are you should tick the classics. God knows i cant yet... There are moderates and what's better than watching people get spanked on some harder trs? My partner loves it... We both get a good laugh... Well, mostly him...

Way cooler locale and more variety than 90 ft but that's just my 2£...

The West Buttress at Sugarloaf consists of closely spaced, bolted slab routes, perfect for beginners.
The left side of 90 Foot Wall has a handful of easy-ish climbs, but I find the movements kind of awkward to be honest.
