Deck of cards

Good book to read

1 gallon of gasoline (don't spill it)

Antifreeze/coolant (water will do in a pinch)

Motor oil

Spare tire/jack

Fleece hat

Extra bandanas... the things are magic

Don't take so much expensive electronics. Break-ins happen and damage control is good. You ought to be able to survive a couple weeks with just the iphone.

Sadly I have to continue to work during the roadtrip so the electronics aren't so much an option. (I work for the government doing GIS processing) It is nice to have a job that I can go on a 3 week roadtrip and continue to work however. Bandanas and decks of cards are a good call! We have a spare tire/jack in the car already and have renters insurance. We went and bought some p-cord last night. I'll add seam grip though! Thanks guys!

Laundry Detergent is a good call as are tampons for the girlfriend. The makeup is for the one day we have to look presentable at my sisters graduation or it wouldn't be on the list.

Seriously? I guess your wiki project might be helpful to people who don't have enough spreadsheets in their lives already. But to quote Doug Tompkins, a guy who knows a little about the subject (ie driving a van to South America to make the third ascent of Fitz Roy):

"Commit and figure it out."

Here's a serious recommendation:

+1 on the baby wipes... but,
if you can, take your time on this one. There is a lot of variety of hand/face wipes +Aloe Vera +Moisturizer +etc etc... Climbing trips involve lots and lots of wet wipe baths, and it pays to pick out one or two that you and your girlfriend are not going to mind wiping your ass and face (hopefully not in that order) with the whole trip.

+1 on the mountain bikes. Oh, and a stainless steel flask filled with Laphroaig, or some other nice single malt of your choice...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
