Climbing & weather around Redwood National Park, Del Norte Coast State Park, ...

I am planning a trip up to view the annular eclipse of the Sun on May 20, 2012:

and was thinking that staying around Redwood National Park or in one of the nearby state parks would be good.
The eclipse lasts from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, May 20th, 2012, so I want to have clear skies and viewing for that.

What is the weather like around there at that time of year? Will it likely be clear or foggy, ... in the late afternoon, early evening?

The things I would like to do on this trip are: see the eclipse, climb and/or boulder and fish.

I am open to suggestions for other places on the map along the annular eclipse lines (red line on the map is the center line) where I can climb and go fishing.

You can be pretty certain that any time of year is going to be cloudy and raining in the rain forest.

If viewing the eclipse is your primary objective, the Northern California Coast is probably the worst spot on the eclipse line to be, especially that time of year. It can be foggy for days or weeks without any sun.

If you like the desert, you may want to consider the Pyramid Lake area in Nevada. You can fish and camp there, and there is a bouldering spot called Purgatory a little bit north of Nixon. It could get a little warm there, however.

What if I drove inland for a ways away from the coast?
Another possibility was in Nevada.
