How worthy is the bolt ban in the first place? When they serve no other function than to perpetuate government control over the sheep, IMHO thats when it becomes a us versus them thing.

There is no "bolt ban". There is a pre-approval process, with a track record of approving thoughtful bolting proposals. If you are familiar with the names on the committee roster (signed at the bottom of the letter), you know that this is hardly an example of oppression by The Man. There are, among others, past and present island guide service owners and very active local climbers on the committee, all with a vested interest in what is best for the wonderful, if limited, MDI climbing resources. I have every confidence they make their decisions in a fair and balanced manner.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
