What is up with moderators deleting posts?

I'm sure it has been said before, but the 1st Amendment applies ONLY to government/congress restricting speech and religion. You DO NOT hold this right within private situations.
And as often said, if you don't like what is happening here feel free to ask for a refund of your registration fee.

+1 to Geir and Mike.

Anyone you has a problem with MP, whether it's too much censorship or too much vitriol, can go build their own site and run it however they see fit.

Kudos to all the admins that donate their time to keep MP up and running!

Thank You to the admins that have weighed in on this matter, but it would be nice to hear from more of you guys. The channel changing refernce was more directed towards the fact that there are thousands of threads on this site and if you are offended by one go find another that may be more suitable to you.
Thank You,
Cole Phinney

What Jimbo said and...

Yarp is a pretty smart guy who has his game down. He keeps in that grey area, just on the edge of being an obvious troll but still consistently stirring up shit for his own amusement. He is not here to be part of the "community;" his contributions seldom have anything to do with climbing. It is obvious that he comes here incite argument and provide abuse. All his protest about being a victim are just part of his game; he is perfectly aware of what he is doing.

Deleting the posts where he is obviously being a jerk is a good start. However, in the end all this does is force him to step up his game and become a more sophisticated troll. When it is obvious that a poster is intentionally being disruptive and consistently abrasive, they should be permanently removed.

Please, do not let MP.com become RC.com.

Well it is disappointing to see that this thread is going this direction. It would be nice to hear from the admins more about what motivates their decisions to delete someones posts. E.S., Yarp, S.Price, if we cant keep this thread going in a certain direction all that we are doing is justifying the decision to have more censorship take place here, please stay on topic or start a new thread for you to continue your slandering.
Thank You,
Cole Phinney

Hell, I'll delete posts if I don't like the profile picture. 2. I've got a ton of free time for a month, I'll see damn near every post. I also have a Droid to keep it up even when I go climbing. 3. If given the power, I will also ban whoever I deem fit. I will swing the banz hammer like I was Thor. 4. I will take all the blame. Think that over for a second. I'm willing to come in and endlessly stomp on balls and take all the blame for it. You only have to say, "that John, he's gone crazy and he's locked us out of the system". It's off of you, it's all on me and I'm happy to do it. 5. For free. I expect to see a formal offer in my inbox soon. Thanks.

Word. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to grasp.

+1.

I also love the campfire & pub analogies & find them accurate.

MegaGaper2000 wrote: The thing is people did change the channel. Channel one was super taco. Channel two was RC.com. Channel 3 is mountain project. It's more like, one by one your favorite channels are being swarmed by herds of clusterfucking locusts, who instead of eating everything spill verbal fart juice all over the place. For the many civil to allow themselves to be forced off site after site by the few ignorant, crass, socially inept bozos is a damn shame. But the fact is, 'the many' have little-to-no power, compared to the admins, so we look to the admins to do what we can't, and ban/delete/otherwise control the trolls...

Excellent post, although channel one was rec.climbing, which became absolutely overrun with bile and negativity.

Yarp wrote: ... Is there a mod out there with the balls to admit to MP that they are the one selectively censoring boards so that they read as they see fit?

An AC accusing others of lacking balls. How ironic. Yarp the other day I was admiring a well written & non-flaming post of yours & wondering if you had changed your ways. Maybe it's just that your negative spew posts have all been deleted? If so, then IMHO it is for the best & I salute whichever mod did it.

Seriously Yarp, if enough people say enough times that you are being a jerk, you have to admit that it is a possibility that you are being a jerk. The one guideline on this site is: "Don't be a jerk." If you are consistently being a jerk, your posts will consistently get deleted. You have only yourself to blame.

I have had a couple of posts deleted, which I did NOT agree with and felt singled me out. However I choose to use this site within the rules, and have since ensured I didn't do it again.

I thank the mods for their work, even the one that deleted my posts.

There is no justice in this world whatsoever. If deleting Majid is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Sorry to hear about your downstairs mix up.
