I havent had the privilege of seeing it yet this year. Anyone have any reviews they want to offer up or can point me in the direction of a site that has reviews for it. I wasnt a huge fan of last year with how it was a conglomeration of individual sections. Was hoping for more continuity this year. I am sure its an all around finger sweating good time but wanted a bit more.

I'll leave the detailed review to someone else but I will say that I think it is worth checking out. The comic shorts were so so, but the rock/ice climbing and mountaineering footage was pretty inspiring. I was really affected by Obe Carrion more than anything. Always enjoyed watching him climb but was impressed by his unguarded nature and how he let it all hang out. Seems like a solid guy... That kid is lucky to have him as a coach.

I'll give it *****

I thought the overall movie was great except the "slacklining" episode. Personally, slacklining does not interest me so instead of giving the movie 5 stars I would bump it down to 4 stars.

I liked it, but I was a little disappointed with how it represented Ice and big wall climbing. For most Ice isn't M-xxx overhanging caves on bolts, and big walling isn't 30 pitches of 5.13 plus or 2 and a 1/2 hour laps up the nose. It was entertaining and I would recommend seeing it, but it was good, not great in my book.

Cheers,

Prod.

It was rad.
That is all.
Have a great day.
Thanks for listening.

I thought it was dope, although the bouldering and slacklining movies were not as intriguing to me.

The slackline segment blew my mind!

I went to see it for one film and only one film: the piece covering the history of speed climbing records for The Nose. I ended up enjoying every single film immensely!

Well, except for the one titled "Cold", which I thought was just so-so. However, it is a truncated version of a longer feature, which I hear is far better.

Anyone know when it will be available for online download on their site? I won't get the opportunity to go see it at one of the viewing spots

I was in Fayetteville over the weekend and they showed it Sat night. I didn't go, but on Sunday morning people were all talking about how cool everyone's costumes were... no one mentioned the film.

I thought is was very good this year...varied subject matter and compelling stories. I was also glad not to see another film about Chris Sharma projecting some over hanging 5.15

I only heard about it. What did you think of the film about being cold?

Thanks for the reviews. I am looking forward to seeing it. I think if I go into it with a bit lower of expectations I will be even more impressed with it. So that is the plan.

"Cold" was not my favorite. It was very somber. The subject matter and some of the specific shots were pretty intense (if you have seen it, you probably know which shots I mean).

It may be a great short film on its own, but it didn't really seem to have a place in the line-up. It really sucked the energy out of the crowd.

Anybody have COLD on DVD? I would like to see it. PM me

I agree with Bob, "Cold" seemed out-of-place amongst the more lighthearted films. It definitely seemed to suck the energy out of the Boulder Theater.

I really didnt like the slacklining film, which was shown last. I know the guy is probably a badass, but it just felt reckless and almost uncomfortable to watch.

The Obe film was my favorite. Overall I thought previous year's were much better, but this one is still worth going too!

it really didn't stand out this year. the only thing that really stood out was the Flourine versus Potter Nose record piece.

My costume was awesome, though.

Pretty much this. Also, now my wife thinks all mountaineering is like climbing Gasherbrum II.

I thought cold was awesome. The climbing media has moved away from covering this kind of badass shit in recent years. Those guys are friggin crazy and while it is indeed a somber film, I thought it showed a facet of climbing worth recognizing and admiring, even for those of us who will never participate in it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
