Whatever happened to the travelling biner?

I think it's being used on the universal cam.

That was fun. We should resurrect that.

  • **EDIT***

Instead of saying what we should do, I'll start it. I'll buy a nice HMS locker and take it out climbing.

I wasn't really involved with the process of how the last one got passed around, but I'll start it out. How did you guys work it last time. Did someone coordinate the waiting list?

Make it more exciting and have it be a traveling rope! You can't pass it on until you have whipped on it. I've got a nice used one that I will dedicate to the cause. Who wants to go first?

I'm out on that one. Plus, its $15 to ship a rope.

But, I've got an ATC we could use for the cause.

Yeah, how about a traveling ATC. First one to wear it out and have it fail on them wins!

Hey Evan,

I'm living near Portland now and headed out west at the end of the month. I'll use the biner after you and pass it on.

How about a travelling disposable camera? The last person develops the photos and posts them.

I really liked seeing the pics from the last traveling biner ... Evan, I'll coordinate the waiting list.

First up is Tom, for getting the ball rolling.

You all writing in about ropes/atc/cameras are into it, write back here and I'll put you on it next.

Evan, maybe also throw in the disposable camera too, kind of a rad old school idea! But of course also we need pics of the biner in digital format too, since we can't wait til the end to see where it's been..

You can buy a 10 pack of disposable cameras online for like $35. If people are serious about it, we could mail a camera out one at a time until they are full, then mail out a fresh one. When all the cameras are full then everyone who has one goes and gets them developed and posts the pictures here. Could be fun!

I think the first guy to get it, Evan Sanders or something, lost it right away.

Throw me on the list for the biner!

It met a hot chick biner, moved in, and now has a couple of keychain biners running around the place. Doesn't get to travel much these days.

...and what happened to the traveling 'Take it to the Limit' DVD?

I do like the traveling disposable camera idea....last to use it would develop it and post up the 24 pics on the page. Winner keeps and enjoys the benefits of paying for the prints with a travellogue of scenes.

That makes me seem like I stole the biner...

I was supposed to start it out with my biner, but I haven't done anything but bouldering lately. Nobody emailed me with any shipping info so that's why it died.

List so far

Evan Horvath starts it out and takes inaugural photo, then
Tom Hanson
steitz
_Steven
bkb2000
me Danf
Taylor Ogden
Austin Baird
Woodchuck
Evan Sanders

--> Let's actually do this, which means when you get the biner, you either take that baby out and get on a route fast, or send it to the next person on the list. No official time limit, but just keep momentum going.

Sounds good, and very important to keep it moving and communicate where it is and who it's off to, and when to expect it. An idea: everyone add a thin piece of contrasting color tape to the biner too, so like we see a yellow stripe when it arrives and add a thin purple stripe of tape as it leaves. What do you think?

Maybe even an illegal biner might be involved there.( but not an Italian made one).

Add me to any list(s) you may have. I love the disposable camera idea

Cool,

New Biner and a disposable camera. I'll take it out this week.
