Horse Pens in August?

So, just trying to get some opinions... Some friends of mine and I are toying with the idea of driving down from Southern Illinois to Horse Pens for a week or so in early August. I just wanted to get some feedback on how the climbing would be there in this kind of heat, I've only been before during winter and spring with 'perfect temps'. Thanks for the info!

It is still going to be hot and humid. It might not be awful to climb at night, but the humidity will be higher. A few friends just climbed there a couple of weeks ago. Definitely had to lower the grades they would normally climb. Try Grandmother/Blowing Rock in NC. Those will be the coolest places this time of year.

I love Horse Pens, but it's way too humid this time of year.

Summer in N.C. is humid as hell all over J.Kurse.Up high in the mtns. is going to be the best place to climb in the east though like Tom said, but still HOT!!Hell its hot as can be here in colorado.Or try New River so you can cool off when ya need to.R Bald has Lake Lure right by as well.Have fun..
