Everything you ever wanted to know about "why we climb"

My reason is that I enjoy having the ability to take myself places that people won't be. For me it's more about the solitude than the actual climbing (I get the same things from sailing and riding motorcycle). While I'm climbing I'm responsible for my own actions and can't rely on other people to assist me (other than my belayer :D)

Because boys dig chicks that climb...

To bag more peaks and because participating in inherently dangerous activities with you life partner generally keeps the petty squabbles to a minimum. The second ended up being an accidental perk, but sure is nice :)

Why do you climb? Stupidest question in the world. But anyways;

I always thought it was because that's how you get to the top.

Because it makes the beer taste better.

It's become a habit that is hard to stop for some reason (can you say addiction), but at 55 I'm getting closer. But then again it's not horseshoes or handgrenades, so "close" doesn't matter.

Why do we ask repetitive questions instead of using the search feature?

(just joking, not trying to violate rule #1. lots of good responses in this previous thread though)

Because when I'm climbing like surfing it enters me into a free mind state where the only thing that exists is that moment...then i'm flung back into a total mind fuck when it's over lol it's like natures aderol!

Hang around long enough and it gets like groundhog day around here.

For me it's the beer and girls.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
